PG: Tonight there are only 6 games, but there are a lot of interesting match ups that should make for a good night of daily NBA fantasy. At PG I have Ish Smith in almost every lineup, who is only $4.5k. Jrue Holliday is the starter for the Pelicans tonight, but he is on a minutes restriction of 15 minutes per game so Ish Smith should get the majority of the minutes at point guard. Also, Nate Robinson was cut by the Pelicans a few days ago, and he had been getting some of the backup minutes in their first two games so Smith should be seeing even more playing time tonight than he has in the past two games. His first game of the season coming off the bench against Golden State he had 17 points, 9 assists, 2 rebounds, and 3 steals. Look for more of the same tonight in what should be a high scoring game with Golden State. If you want to spend big money on a point guard I would go with John Wall tonight. His usage should be much lower than Steph Curry’s and he should put up just as many fantasy points if not more against a weak Knick’s defense tonight.
SG: Shooting guard is probably the toughest position to pick tonight, and there aren’t many good options available. C.J. Miles is who I am going with tonight, as I don’t think that any of the more expensive options are worth it other than Bradley Beal. But, I think a guy like Miles who is only $4k is a much better play than Beal who is $6.2k, when they both should end up scoring around 30 fantasy points. Miles has averaged 26.3 points over his first 2 games, and he should score at least 30 tonight in what should be a high scoring game against the Jazz. He is the only shooting guard that I have in any of my lineups, and I think that he is by far the best value at the position.
SF: If you have been reading these blogs at all this season, you will not be suprised by my pick at SF tonight. That pick is Paul George, and he has had two monster games to start off the season, and he should have another big game tonight. He has averaged 44.3 fantasy points through his first two games, and tonight’s contest against the Jazz should be a high scoring game, so I expect him to keep playing at a high level. At $8k his price hasn’t gone up after two huge games, so I am sticking with him until his price goes up a few thousand dollars, which it should when he keeps having huge games like he has been. I’ve gone cheap at a lot of my positions tonight so another SF I have in a lot of my lineups is Rudy Gay. For $7.5k he is fairly pricey, and he hasn’t had a great game yet this season, but that makes me think that he will have a big night tonight, especially in a game against the Clippers that should be very high scoring.
PF: At power forward tonight I have Derrick Favors in almost every lineup. The only thing that worries me about him tonight is that he is playing in back to back games, but it is so early in the season that it shouldn’t be much of an issue. At $7.2k he is one of the best values available on the expensive end of the spectrum. His first two games of the season he has scored at least 20 points and had 10 rebounds, and also has had a few blocks and steals in each of those games. Also, he is up against the Pacers, who became a much smaller team after getting rid of Roy Hibbert. Look for Favors to have another big night tonight. If you want to go cheap at PF I would go with Kyle O’Quinn. He is only $3.7k and has averaged just over 30 fantasy points through his first two games.
C: I am running out of time before 7 PM to post this so this will be short. At C I have two guys from the same team, Demarcus Cousins and Willie Cauley-Stein. They both started last night, and both put up big games. Cousins is obviously expensive at $10k, but Cauley -Stein is only $3k, so both are a great play tonight, even up against a tough interior D of the Clippers.
